Anurag Chopra is the Director of Gateway2India Internal Auditor and Marathon Tools, Inc.. He has done MBA in Accounting & Finance from Duke University, USA, B.A. (Honours) Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University and is a Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®). Interest in metalwork and doing business connected with factories developed due to growing up in a steel town as son of a hardworking metallurgical engineer. He is a family man, resides at Gurugram, suburb of New Delhi, India.

We are continuously assessing risks, and identifying those which present the most significant threats to the organisation - before they arrive. We recognise that there is the need to audit at the speed of risk. Risk velocity has never been greater than it is now.

We anticipate risk, detect it and have the factory take mitigative measures. We also assess opportunity and suggest ways to avail it. Our work preserves and enhances value because the shipment inspection plan and work program are aligned to achieve strategic objectives of the stakeholders. Assurance and advise is provided by deploying qualitative cum quantitative analysis and digital technology. Through insightful and timely communication which emanates from integrity and courage, we have been improving stakeholder relations and growing their business. Due to work ethic and participative approach we are able to develop a tightly knit, focused team which delivers good outcomes in Business Strategy, Assurance, Quality, RESA Social and Scan CTPAT audits.

The assurance function has adapted to include a hybrid workplace environment, and no key risks are falling through the cracks because they aren't being audited in person. A great many professionals are working remotely now. Auditors are no different. Adapting to this environment requires a resilient and transformative mindset. Combining remote working with the traditional means is proving to be suitable!

The assurance function continues to emphasise audit quality. Audit has not relaxed its commitment to quality or conformance with the standards. We have time-tested comprehensive methodologies for undertaking the audits and inspections. When evidence can't be physically examined because of a remote work environment we have adapted the policies and procedures to ensure that a basis for our conclusions can be established. We remain committed to quality and have taken steps in the current environment to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the information.

An ongoing dialogue with all stakeholders ensures that we are all well-informed and different perspectives are being considered. The current period is full of disruptive and unexpected events. It is likely that the key risks will linger on or become more severe. These risks are likely to include:

Health and safety (employees and customers).

Business continuity.

Global macroeconomic and geopolitical instability.

Pressure on the bottom line.

Supply chain disruption.

Fraud.

Dilution of corporate social responsibility.
